For individual who have recently discovered the merits of online social media tools, the ability to post to more than one digital media site at a time is almost mind-bending.

It was like a somewhat dim light bulb, lacking a bit of the energy flow so necessary for illumination, suddenly received a influx of wattage when one of the many individuals at Arizona Republic explained how Instagram can simultaneously post to one or more sites.

Wow.

I have other apps on my phone and tablet with a similar feature -- maybe even the same one.  On occasion, I have even used that particular shortcut; however, for sanity's sake, I had a hard time understanding why Instagram has become so popular with teens.

It's because they haven't tried Camera360 or any of the other apps I use.

Ironically, the same features Instagram offers are -- again -- similar to other tools.  It reminds me of a time not so long ago when MySpace and Facebook were duking it out, figuratively of course.

While MySpace still retains some of its loyal followers and Facebook has gained in notoriety, especially amongst businesses and individuals in the late 30s and early 40s, there are other tools moving quickly into the front of the digital race.

Quite honestly, I'm not prepared to place any bets on any of them ...yet.  With they way my bulb dims now and then, the newest tool may wend its way to the forefront before I've had a chance to recharge.

  1. You're right, Tere. At what point does it end? I guess it doesn't. Students have to be willing to stay on top of the latest and greatest, so that means we have to. Honestly, the thought of it makes me want to cry. I work so hard to be "in the know," but it's not easy. Remember Randy Lovely's quote:"The day you think you’ve got it all figured out and you know it all is the day you’ve just ended your career.” Sigh.
