One click social media

For individual who have recently discovered the merits of online social media tools, the ability to post to more than one digital media site at a time is almost mind-bending.
It was like a somewhat dim light bulb, lacking a bit of the energy flow so necessary for illumination, suddenly received a influx of wattage when one of the many individuals at Arizona Republic explained how Instagram can simultaneously post to one or more sites.
Wow.
I have other apps on my phone and tablet with a similar feature -- maybe even the same one.  On occasion, I have even used that particular shortcut; however, for sanity's sake, I had a hard time understanding why Instagram has become so popular with teens.
It's because they haven't tried Camera360 or any of the other apps I use.
Ironically, the same features Instagram offers are -- again -- similar to other tools.  It reminds me of a time not so long ago when MySpace and Facebook were duking it out, figuratively of course.
While MySpace still retains some of its loyal followers and Facebook has gained in notoriety, especially amongst businesses and individuals in the late 30s and early 40s, there are other tools moving quickly into the front of the digital race.
Quite honestly, I'm not prepared to place any bets on any of them ...yet.  With they way my bulb dims now and then, the newest tool may wend its way to the forefront before I've had a chance to recharge.

  1. Students seem to continually look for the most instantaneous gratification tool they can find. Take to long to read a post on Facebook, leave it for those over thirty who like to read. Let's use Instagram. The name really says it all. But wait, there is something that moves even faster. Snapchat only shows that picture for a few seconds. That appeals more to the fast-moving brain.
We can only guess at what there will be next month, next year, or next decade.

  2. I meant "take too long" not "to long." Sure wish I could edit my comment.

  3. My 12-year-old daughter, Alexis Joan, loves Instagram. She uses it much more than Facebook. I was surprised that our social media speaker from last week did not mention it, but Sarah Bush, the mobile producer for Republic Media, talked about it today. She said in an interview afterwards that it is an important social media that continues to grow. Instagram has helped Alexis improve her photography skills.

She enjoys using the Catwang iPad app to modify pictures. It's kind of goofy, but I think that is the whole point.
