AP Style Lesson Resources

AP Style is something I haven't focused on hardcore in our yearbook classroom. That is now going to change.

I am going to dedicate the first few minutes of each class going over the numerous intricacies our students need to know.

Here are a few resources I've found so far, as to not reinvent the wheel. I'd love to see all of your AP style quizzes as well!

Lesson on AP Style with worksheets from ASNE.

Tim Harrower has quizzes to accompany his textbook Inside Reporting:

hsj.com also has a bunch of lessons on AP Style including this one on editing for AP Style:

Does anyone else have any favorite AP Style lessons they'd like to share?

  1. Adrienne, I love Tim Harrower. If you ever get to see his "101 Swipeable Ideas" presentation, it is terrific. Buy the CD if he offers to sell copies.

One of the characteristics of his book that I love is that the design is a practice what you preach exercise. Very readable AND eyecatching. I wish I owned a full class set of "Inside Reporting." I didn't know about the quizzes, so thank you.

  3. I am not familiar with Tim Harrower. I will definitely be sure to look into his work after this week. I am also planning to implement reinforcement of AP style situations during the first 5-10 minutes of class as daily bell activity/beginning discussion.

    Thanks for sharing these, Adrienne!
