Boy, I was 3/4 of the way through an insightful and heartfelt first blog entry ever when I was timed out. I haven't gotten a time out since I was little, but haven't timed one of my three-year-old twin daughters since this morning. I will now type faster and write less.
My name is Greg Cantwell and for the past ten years I have advised The Talisman, the print and online PDF newspaper of Sheldon High School in Eugene, Oregon.
I am greatly looking forward to the Phoenix institute in little over a week. My program is changing in many ways this coming year because of state and district mandates, so I hope to reinvent everything through my two weeks on the institute. I look forward to meeting you all.
I look forward to hearing your successes and struggles. As a former journalist and new teacher, I learned that it is much easier to produce a newspaper by yourself than it is to get the kids to do it. My kids signed up expecting a goof off class and I had other plans. Conflict was inevitable, but we learned a lot together.
