Ken Paulson

The Ken Paulson presentation was one of the most informative and entertaining presentations (aside from Steve Elliott's) that I have seen in a while.  I loved the interaction between a very well known member of the media (one that I admire and have heard on NPR numerous times) and us teachers.  He brought the 1st Amendment to life, making us participate with the First Amendment and history.

As some one who took the U.S. Citizenship Test, I found his anecdote very funny because indeed the test was easy and glorified Washington.  I appreciated his down to earth way of sharing information and I came up with about 4 lesson plans that I could use just based on some of the topics we discussed in the classroom.  I definitely will be discussing freedoms of the press and the history of it in my video broadcast class, and I will probably find some of the songs that he shared with us to discuss in my class.  One of the funniest things he said was that the Betsy Ross flag idea went viral in the 1870s.  I cannot wait to tell my colleagues back home about this experience
