Today's session from Kristy Roschke really hit home for me. I am looking for a new host for my online paper and have had so many questions. She really broke it down for me.
I will take her advice to go mobile. After she talked about all of the benefits, I cannot believe I was ever hesitant about it. Kids are already using their phones for Facebook and Twitter. Why not use that for the good of your student media? Not only will it keep your site current, but it was also teach your students how to use these social media tools in a professional way. I especially liked her example of having kids tweet scores from the game while they are there. How cool! I think this is something students and community members would really like to see. On their individual stories in the comment section, parents are huge contributors. Obviously they like to see what is going on in our school and paper. This would be a free, easy way to make this happen.
So now I have to decide between SNO and Wordpress. I am a dummy when it comes to websites and coding and things like that. The other junior high and the high school use Wordpress. I wonder if I should just use that for the sake of consistency? Although SNO seems like it would be easier for a newbie like me....
Your thoughts?

Well, I would strongly suggest SNO. They have been so helpful this year. If we got stumped and needed to know how to do something, we would shoot off an email and ask the question, and in a few minutes, we would have the answer. It is very user friendly, and they set up the page for you. You don't have to do it yourself. It is well worth the money.
