Digital Resources

While faculty associate at the Cronkite School Kristy Roschke focused on newspaper and yearbook when discussing online resources, I really got a lot of ideas out of this session on how I can use these resources for my video production course.  Online tools are everywhere, and while I knew they existed and have tinkered with many them, I have never really seen the broad range of resources available to us.

I can easily see my course using not only Instagram and Twitter to promote the Video News, but also Word Press or similar web pages.  When she mentioned the jeadigital web page, I immediately went there, and I was able to find a plethora of links that apply to my broadcast class.  I even found links to other student and school based broadcast programs, societies, mentorships, contests, and lesson plans.  I feel like when I am in San Diego at the end of the week, I will take a day or two of relax, and then a day week of pouring poring over all of the resources from this session alone.

I do have the problem where I see a link and click on it and then another link and then another where I end up miles away from the first page I was at in the first place (thank God for tabs).  So I guarantee that I will be doing this in early July.  And I will be using twitter as a weapon come August.

  1. The number of options out there for producing/sharing content are almost overwhelming, though today's session (and the institute as a whole) have helped me learn of the options that best suit my school's needs, and I'm very excited to get home and start working on putting some of them together.
