We're stars in Phoenix - and here's the proof

Shooting and editing video produced a great deal of anxiety in me before I got here. I am not totally angst-free at this point, but I definitely feel willing to give this a try when I get home. And two weeks ago I didn't even want to hold a video camera.

Funny thing, I was holding a video camera every time I took a still shot because my camera does both. I had never even read the instructions until I got here.

And I will encourage -- no, no -- I will mandate that all my journalism students try their hands at this. I envision a great online publication with up-to-the-minute (or at least up-to-the-day) coverage that includes video. We'll knock the socks off our readers. And that includes my administrators.

On to a broadcast news show before the end of the semester, too.

I also think this will be the best recruitment tool I will have ever found. Next year's staff will surely be huge.

Thank you, Reynolds fellows and teachers, for getting me to this comfort point.  Eva, you are my star. A teacher through and through for not only your knowledge but also your patience and encouragement. If I envision you standing right next to me, I know I'll be able to do this.
