I have similar issues with the concerns we brought up in our sports session with my staffs. Most are involved in
AP classes and sports themselves and often times they have no time for covering
the actual game days and nights. The others do not drive and have trouble
arranging rides.
We all seem to face the
same challenges. We had a situation this past year where they canceled the soccer team for JV girls after we
designated a spread in the middle of the sports section, and we didn't get ANY
varsity boys soccer photos from ANY of the practices or games (and didn't realize
it until the deadline month), so we had several meltdowns during the year with obtaining
content.
The alternate coverage ideas were helpful, the quiz was a
fun break and a great bell work activity and the award-winning photography and
page layouts are always inspirational to view.
It is rewarding knowing I'm a part of the movement forward
with the younger generation-teaching them and helping them to document their
lives in print media. Another fine performance, Alan!
