Social media

Thoughts on social media:

 1) This Pinterest about social media is like one of those Russian nesting dolls....

There are many other Pinterest walls like this--sometimes when I want to get an idea of what is out there on a given topic for my classroom, I like to look at Pinterest because the dross has already been selected out to some extent.

 2) My students went to a Personal Branding presentation at the state journalism convention. They were very excited to attend the session and enjoyed thinking about the challenge of monitoring their own social media use.

 3) Although I often find the social media world overwhelming, it certainly does create interesting ways to exchange information and ideas. Look at how many ways we have been communicating with each other this week. I have learned about so many resources to use, just from what folks have put on facebook and on this blog. Thank you to everyone for all the sharing. I am excited to use all of this and to digest it more. I missed ISTE and Blended Learning training to be here, which, at a tech-driven school, was a lot to miss. But I think everything that I have discovered here will also help me in my World Lit. classrooms, so I don't feel like I am really at a disadvantage at all for having been here instead. We can teach our students to productively use social media and journalism strategies in ANY communication or writing field. Not just for journalists anymore!
