Well really.
Just when we think we have it all figured out, we have yet another wonderful, information-packed presentation on how to do things better and get things right.
Thanks for the great tips this morning, Alan. Your students' introduction to your program's goals and objectives and the tour of your publication's classroom (including your organizational channels and charts and cubicles and cubbies and that FABULOUS newsstand) made it all come to life for us. You could see your students shine as they walked through your lab and showed us their playing ground, and you could certainly feel their pride in every step of the tour. What a compliment to you!
Loved the actual "visuals" you brought...the print media of your 20-page products (taking them home for my Stingers to view), the incentives and the recognition pieces you have in place to honor their constant efforts and the perks you offer along the way (lanyards, pens, staff shirts) to let them know they are appreciated. Many times we get in the trenches with them and forget to come up for air and celebrate their successes.
The China video summary was more than a documentary of what works. As teachers and advisers, it touched our hearts when your kiddos proudly displayed what we all hope to achieve as journalists -- to ensure our students have their voices heard and to make a difference in our world.
