Reporting Simulation
The reporting simulation was an excellent way to find out how to ask questions of difficult or reluctant sources. I was amazed at the questions people in my group thought of that didn't even occur to me. Kudos to the "sources" for keeping in character. This would be an awesome exercise for the beginning journalism students. Having current staff members act as the sources might be a really good way to teach both groups more about journalism. The staff members would get to be on the other side of the interview and the new students would be able to get to see how much fun it could be to be on staff.
Of course the difficulty would be getting the students all in the same class together.
The simulation on News U would solve the problem of not having to get more warm bodies in the class. I'll have to try that on my own first...
