Watch closely.
This video captures our dedication as a team; our
composition as a unit.
Notice how everyone on the floor practicing their
camera positioning and placement is doing so with such devotion and total
attention to Steve's direction. He is the model teacher.
No one questions him. No one doubts him. Everyone
follows him.
Everyone in the audience is locked on his instruction method.
His explanations are flawless.
“Turn the head like this.
So this one here, it’s called the doohickey.
OK. All right. It’s grid shut. Tighten it. Kinda - this one toward you.
This one. The other doohickey.
Turn it.
This is your up-and-down doohickey. OK? You want to
write that down. Up-and-down doohickey. All right.
The one on the side here, that’s your level doohickey.
OK. That’s really important.
Let’s say you’re shooting something and you’re not
sure you’re level…”
The combination of his explanations and our efforts today ensure he will be proud of our final productions.
Why humor always helps!
Why we are doing so well!
Why we love Steve!

I have added a whole new set of journalism vocabulary to my list of must knows I will give my students. I think doohickey is especially descriptive, although thingy is also a keeper. I do really appreciate the humor woven throughout each day. Again, another unintended lesson to bring home to my students.
