I took part in the Photoshop class for beginners yesterday and learned a lot, or at least enough to understand what my students have been doing. The adviser that I am taking over for has told me several times that she knows little about Photoshop or InDesign. After hearing this, I have made a goal for myself to familiarize myself on these programs so that I can support my students when they have questions. I am assuming that my newspaper students will still know more that I do, but now I will be able to understand how they got there.
In the class I learned about cropping, adjusting image quality, fixing imperfections, correcting red eye, adding a stroke, sharpening, saving images in different formats, and more. There is so much more that I believe I can learn about Photoshop and would like to take another class on it. It would be nice if the "beginners" could now take the Advanced Photoshop class to see what type of the techniques they learned yesterday.
In the video you can watch Steve teach us how to remove red eye from a photo. He did a great job on teaching the basics!
My goals has been met half way, now I am excited to learn about InDesign and how I can teach that to my Journalism students this coming Fall.
