Iced Coffee, Eggs and Video for Breakfast

This morning my multimedia group had the opportunity to get up early and head to Starbucks to complete our story. We had no idea what to expect, but we knew we were looking for catchy quotes, great natural sound, and some unique shots. We came out with exceptional quotes, amazing natural sound and some challenging but interesting shots. It was a great learning experience because we knew this was our last shot to get what we needed; and we came together and made it work.

Major props to Claudia for her interviewing skills. It's much tougher to interview on camera then in a pen and paper format. Her follow up questions were right on point, and she got the talent to really reveal things about themselves that will make our story compelling.

I tend to shy away from group assignments. They can be challenging if you can't find a way to gel. My group worked well together, bounced ideas off one another, and everyone played a part in the production of our video.

Overall, great first week at Reynolds!

  1. I had a similar experience with the video assignment yesterday. I admit that I was a little intimidated when I ended up being my group's "expert," as my video knowledge is limited to Sony Vegas and Windows Movie Maker; however, I learned throughout the exercise that we (my group) had a knack (and--dare I say it--an eye for angles and certain shots) for visualizing effective video elements before shooting. Final Cut Pro was a bit of a challenge with my limited video-editing knowledge, but my team really pulled together in the editing process, and I'm looking forward to finalizing things and seeing how it turns out in the end.
